Florida Primary Care and Emergency Care Physician Urges Need to Keep Zika Concerns in Perspective
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (October 17, 2016) – Dr. Joseph Rosado, a Primary Care and Emergency Care Physician in Orange City, FL is calling on travelers to remain educated about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines but urges them to continue living their lives and traveling while armed with the most accurate information. Dr. Rosado’s advice supports the Puerto Rico Tourism Company’s (PRTC) ongoing efforts to ensure that the proper information is provided to travelers.
Dr. Rosado, who has a large Latino practice, encourages travelers and his numerous patients who frequent the Caribbean and Latin America to put their concerns about the Zika virus in proper perspective, “We must not let fear and speculation interfere with properly educating and informing the public. Those who are pregnant or planning a family in the near future should not visit Zika zones, but the rest of the population should not worry and continue to travel to beautiful destinations like Puerto Rico.”
“Dr. Rosado’s message of prevention and protection is powerful in allaying fear with the Latino and Puerto Rican communities that are travelling back to their homeland to visit family and friends,” said PRTC Executive Director Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort. “By providing facts and dispelling the misperceptions about Zika on the island, travelers visiting Puerto Rico will continue to have the same experience before Zika, with the exception of now being encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and protect themselves.”
PRTC is working closely with the CDC and the local Department of Public Health to ensure visitors are informed about Zika in Puerto Rico. The PRTC and the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association (PRHTA) are taking every precaution possible to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds at hotels and resorts, and educate visitors about preventing mosquito bites.
